Sunday 3 May 2009

A trip to Esholt farm.

The village Emmerdale Farm was filmed in before they built their own set.

Some aren't as successful as others. It was a nightmare to take photos that day as the sun kept going in and coming back out, so I constantly had to change the camera settings. I like the first one of 'Woolpack' sign, it gave me the idea of pub names for a theme. I also really like the last one of the bridge, which has given me another idea for a theme, links/connections.

A theme - Overpowering cities.

One of the ideas I had for a theme was overpowering cities, concentrating mainly on buildings and positioning the view of the photo to make us feel belittled.

These are a few of my favourites:

I really like the first one, but I don't feel the others are as powerful. Not entirely sure whether to carry on with this theme or not.

I've edited them in photoshop, increasing the contrast a little to make it that extra bit powerful. I've made them black and white too, just as a personal preference.

Alexjandra Laviada.

Just because it reminded me of the photoshoot of the chairs I did.

I really like the textures, and again the simplicity, it gives it that really old feel.

Lighting Studio.

Documenting chairs.

My initial aim was to produce an image where the light source cancelled out the shadows.

I quite like this photo for the simplicity. I like how the chair becomes insignificant because of the positioning in the photo.

Changing the type of light: Spotlight.
I wanted to experiment with shadows and create quite an atmospheric photo.

Experimenting with camera settings.

Just playing with all the different settings and generally getting a feel for the camera and how it works.

Colour

Black and White

I really like the theme of all these photos, it's almost like everyday life. It's quite humorous too in the way he's almost caught them at an embarrassing/interesting moment.

Again, I really like the high contrast in the black and white image. Also, the clean, crisp quality all images have.
